Jaundice

Three days after getting Jacob home from Central Baptist (the best hospital ever in my opinion), we took Jacob to the Doctor. It turned out that he was very dehydrated because my milk supply had not fully come in yet, and he also had a bad case of Jaundice. We ended up having to go to the local hospital here...to get some blood work to test his actually bilirubin levels ( I cried when they pricked his heel...stupid hormones). When we went to this hospital I quickly started to miss Central Baptist. This hospital seemed years behind Central Baptist, and the people there were not as nice.

I was not happy to find out that we would be spending the next two nights in that hospital. When we arrived at our hospital room, I was not happy. Not only was I going to have to sleep on a broken hospital bed, and watch my 3 day old infant sleep in an incubator all alone, I also had a messy TV, and nurses who did not really seem to give a crap. I'm sorry to complain, but when you have a 3 day old baby in the hospital, you want to get the impression that the nurses care (whether they do or not).

Any who, I was lucky to have Brian's mom there, since he had to get back to classes. We spent the days figuring out the whole breast feeding thing, and watching crappy judge shows (which I admit I love).

in the end the nurses did do their job, and the doctors cleared us, and we were able to leave two days later, and I am now more thankful than ever to have Jacob home! And...he is no longer a yellow Jaundice baby =)

I love Central baptist Hospital =)

Hey Kaylor! I'm a friend from Brian's from church - anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS on Baby Jacob! He is SO cute (as I'm sure you know!). I just wanted to say that I'm your age and my son is 8 months old so if you ever have any questions or want to vent - just drop me a line. I remmeber very well the new born thing!
Parker actually has a heart defect and had surgery when he was 3 days old so I totally know how you feel about hospitals, nasty nurses, and heel pricking (8 months later and I STILL cry when he has blood drawn). Anyway, just wanted to say hey! And congratulations!!

Hey Kaylor,

I am so happy to hear that everything is going so well with you and baby Jacob. Please let me know when you and baby Jacob will be in Lilburn because I want to see you guys. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Hey Kaylor! I love this blog! I was not too worried about Jacob and his 2nd visit to the hospital. I knew that God was with you and Jacob - and everyone else! Jacob made great progress and we were able to bring him home! By the way, he was the most handsome baby there in his "tanning bed" and sun glasses!
