We have had Jacob's first "photo shoot" with a photographer names Misty Morris (a friend of the family), we have gone to the beach, had Bible School at the church, visited Dahlonega, and had tons of visitors. The new slide show pretty much shows all of this. So, enjoy! I hope you will all read to the end. Jay Leno puts it into perspective and makes us think about the pathetic n! egati vity. That 's right, Jay Leno !!

Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....

"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true, given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed, and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence, 2/3's of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What are we so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?!

Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time, and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

Or possibly the hundreds of clean and ! safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough.

Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all, and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings.

Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents.! ;

Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the President who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same President who guided the nation in the dark days aft! er 9/ 11? The President that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?

The Commander-In Chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it...are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan ! <>have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds, it leads; and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner?

The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" th! em in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about "how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way"...Insane!

Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country.

There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth, and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative. "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks,

"Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?" Jay Leno2007

Please think about all you type='text'>Jacob updates

Jacob is "talking" more than ever now, and smiling so much as well. He is such a happy baby, and last night at his daddy's piano recital he just listened, smiled, and stared at all the Christmas lights in the church. We love him so much!

I had my gallbladder out last week, and it was so hard to not be able to do all the things I am used to doing for him. Jacob handled it all very well, and after a few days of eating from a bottle, he was happy ro get things back to normal around our home as well (Jacob is NOT a fan of the bottle unfortunately!)

Anyways, here are some cute new pictures and videos of our very fast growing little bug!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v6.nonxt5.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D0efbd846dba742fb%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330391872%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D847B02CB6B7617ADDF29837E30E7EB984D9ED3C9.4A27580876A7C95954A410E1CBB0AD8B846BF0F3%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Defbd846dba742fb%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D1pDDrmKYyH4LQJzScJxEJqeu1tM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Happy Birthday Grandpa Jim!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Jim! We visited my family first for a few days, including Halloween (Jacob was a dragon), and then we went to S.C. to visit Brians family. My grandparents saw Jacob for the first time, and so did many of Brians relatives.

Two of my best friends also got to see Jacob (Adrienne and Kristen)...they are both pictured in some of the most recent pictures.

While in S.C., Brian, Adrienne, and both our families, had the chance to go to our colleges last home football game of the season. We had a great time!

Sunday, Jacob was Baptised. It was really great for everyone in our family to get to see. Rev. Knight Baptised Jacob (the minister who married Brian and I) along with Rev. Miyoung. We really appreciate both ministers taking the time to help create that memory for us, even though it was a very busy Sunday due to the Labyrinth and All Saints Day.

I will write more on the Baptism and the rest of the weekend later...I am very tired tonight! =)

The following is a video of Jacob being cute as a button!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v1.nonxt5.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dfc36bd137e69426b%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330391872%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D2FD19F19D24CA9D0D8FBC234A0E2291AB5EF10F6.46F97194DBC924CA24AA63852CAEF73A9A656A28%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dfc36bd137e69426b%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DbmpiuOubtlppm3wBzVwiNRWS3AE&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

This video is basically just Jacob being mad...or probably hungry...again =) Since we are first time parents we pretty much think everything he does is worth taping! scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='weekend fun'/>
weekend fun!

Hello everyone!

This past weekend was such a good weekend. Aunt T, Uncle Jeff, Nanny, and Sarah all came to see Jacob for the first time. We pretty much just hung out the whole weekend, and ate lots of nanny food (which was awesome by the way). We also shopped some, where Jacob stocked up on cute new clothes. Jacob did start to mock faces that we made to him, thanks to Sarah. Sarah spent a lot of time teaching him how to make an "o" with his mouth, smile, and to open his mouth wide. It was so very cool.

Sunday the whole family went to see Brian preach at our church across the street. After church we had a pot luck, where all the members take turns spoiling Jacob.

Then it was time for our family to leave, and we got back into the swing of things. Life is going to be pretty normal until Halloween (Jacob is going to be a dragon thanks to his daddy). We will be going to my home town to visit family that day until Friday, and then it will be off to the PC game in SC. Jacob will be Baptised that weekend as well at Brian's SC home church, so many pictures will also be posted of that soon.

Hopefully we will be having lots of family and friends joining in on our tailgating before the game that Saturday as well.

**Be sure to check out the little video of Jacob, it will not be that interesting to most, but it is so cool to us and family!

more to come!
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v17.nonxt6.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D6752b3095a980985%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330391872%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D58B3A94710485D91F50981C8B6883777CCD1C8B1.66E1B5DB856033F5B7767602674E2545C87F90D7%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D6752b3095a980985%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D0tIk-hyU9BjrwZS7CrVS6vz28dU&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Jaundice

Three days after getting Jacob home from Central Baptist (the best hospital ever in my opinion), we took Jacob to the Doctor. It turned out that he was very dehydrated because my milk supply had not fully come in yet, and he also had a bad case of Jaundice. We ended up having to go to the local hospital here...to get some blood work to test his actually bilirubin levels ( I cried when they pricked his heel...stupid hormones). When we went to this hospital I quickly started to miss Central Baptist. This hospital seemed years behind Central Baptist, and the people there were not as nice.

I was not happy to find out that we would be spending the next two nights in that hospital. When we arrived at our hospital room, I was not happy. Not only was I going to have to sleep on a broken hospital bed, and watch my 3 day old infant sleep in an incubator all alone, I also had a messy TV, and nurses who did not really seem to give a crap. I'm sorry to complain, but when you have a 3 day old baby in the hospital, you want to get the impression that the nurses care (whether they do or not).

Any who, I was lucky to have Brian's mom there, since he had to get back to classes. We spent the days figuring out the whole breast feeding thing, and watching crappy judge shows (which I admit I love).

in the end the nurses did do their job, and the doctors cleared us, and we were able to leave two days later, and I am now more thankful than ever to have Jacob home! And...he is no longer a yellow Jaundice baby =)

I love Central baptist Hospital =)

Visitors

So far we have had many visitors up to our home over the past 2 weeks. We left our home at 3:30 am in order to make it to Central Baptist Hospital by 5:00 am to begin our induction. We were having our baby induced only a few days past our due date. During the ride to the hospital, I actually started to get really freaked out, because although I spent weeks complaining about how huge I was and how I just wanted to "get this kid out" I never really sat down to think about how scary it was all going to be. I was surprised to see my husband so calm (of course it was 3:30 am). Anyways, we got to the hospital at about 4:30 am, and ended up having to wait about a half hour for our room to be ready.

When we were finally taken back to our room, we met the first of the three nurses who were going to be taking care of us for the next 19 hours. I cant remember this ones name...but she was NOT the type of nurse I had hoped for. She was very rigid and way way way too mater-of-fact for my taste...since I am very sensitive. Anyways, she told me to get dressed in the famous "butt-less" robe...so i did...and got into the bed I would be in for literally the next 19 hours.

When that nurse left, I was glad to meet my new nurse, and her assistant. They were the ones who began the IV with the meds. to start my labor. I liked these nurses so much better, because they were much closer to my age and talked to me honestly like a friend. They made Brian and I feel much calmer. Soon my contractions began slowly, but then came on quite strong. I asked for some temporary pain meds first...which were freaking awesome! They just made everything awesome....and they made it possible for me to get a few moments of sleep here and there.

Next, it was time for my epidural. When the anesthesiologist came in, I realized that she was a very peppy person...and since I was in huge amounts of pain, I cant say I appreciated her jokes too much...but at least she was nice. Anyways, they make you sit up and lean on your nurse, while they do their business with the epidural into your spine. I was surprised at how I did not mind the epidural insertion at all, and I was shocked at how fast it worked! I was completely numbed from the chest down before I knew it. I really loved how my pain was instantly relieved...but I did not like how I could not feel my body at all! I started to have some panic attacks because it was way to weird not feeling my legs.

Soon after the epidural was in, Jacob (my unborn baby), began to have some problems responding to my contractions. So, for the next few hours my nurse had to make sure Jacobs heart rate went along with my contractions in the way it should. At this point I was only 3 cm dilated, and the doctor and nurses began to talk about a c-section due to his unusual heart rate.

Thankfully, Jacob's heart rate leveled out, and it seemed like only minutes before I was 9 cm (although it was NOT only minutes). By this point I had received my next and final nurse, and soon after she became my nurse Dr. Owen decided it was time to begin the pushing phase because I had reached 10 cm.

My nurse went over breathing techniques with me, and we practiced some real pushes. Because of my epidural I had a very hard time figuring out what muscles to use when pushing. By then Dr. Owen had gone and returned from another delivering mother. When he checked to see how everything was going with my cervix and all that good stuff, he realized that Jacob was face up. They also call this "sunny-side up". Apparently this is a problem during delivery because the baby's head gets stuck behind the pubic bone. This resulted in Dr. Owen attempting to manually turn Jacob around inside my uterus. Needless to say, I did not like Dr. Owen during these many turns. It hurt like crap. When Dr. Owen decided that Jacob just wasn't going to be turned, he decided to go ahead and try to finish delivery with an end result of a sunny-side up baby. This meant a likely longer delivery process for me.

Halfway during the pushing phase I just remember begging my doctor and nurse to give me a c-section because I "couldn't do it anymore". I'm sure these doctors and nurses hear that all the time, so they knew just how to keep me going. My hubby, by far the best contraction counter ever, also helped me to keep going.

I feel really sorry for my doctor and nurses, because I think I asked them a million times over "how much longer" and "do you see the head yet?".

I think I was expecting a much shorter time between the moment they first see the head, and the moment the head actually comes out. I also became VERY tired from all the pushing. I really did not see an end in sight.

The last hour or so is a whirlwind, and I don't remember much of it. I just remember the doctor calmly announcing that he was going to do an episiotomy (sp?) and use a vacuum to get Jacob out. I semi-remember Jacob coming out, but I definitely remember the Doctor placing him on my chest. Jacob did not cry when he first came out, as in most cases of sunny-side up babies. This really scared me, because they ended up having to send him off to the NICU (in the end, he turned out to just be stunned from his difficult delivery).

I also remember the delivery of the placenta, and the episiotomy (sp?), but I was so happy to have accomplished such a difficult job that it hardly phased me.

I also remember saying "I'm not trying to be a brat, but could I please get some pain meds!" right after the placenta delivery.

After delivery, I was happy to see that they had turned my epidural down so low during labor that I could actually walked 10 minutes after delivery. Yes, I'm proud to say I went to the bathroom by myself!

Overall, labor was pretty much horrible. Seriously, I think I messed my sister Mallory up by telling her a little too much about it all, and how painful it was. There is just NO way to describe the pain, other than HORRIBLE! But the awesome part of it all, is that it is all worth it. Its weird that something to awful would actually be worth it! It was completely worth it because now I have this completely awesome baby! He is just so cute and sweet and I just love him so much. I am just so happy he is healthy and out of the hospital.

Having our family there with us at the hospital was the best thing. We really appreciated everyone sticking out 19 hours in the waiting room. Yall's support is such a blessing to us!

Greetings

Hello Everyone!

This page is mostly geared towards family, friends, and other who have supported my husband and I through all our many life changes that we have gone through in a relatively short time. For those of you who do not know us very well, in a short year and a half my husband and I have graduated college, married, moved to Kentucky (where my husband now attends seminary), moved again in Kentucky (where my husband is also the minister at a local church), and had a baby. We have come to the conclusion that we will probably never do things the calm or simple way, and thats okay with us. We hope that this blog will make it easier for those who care about us to keep in touch and to keep up with our ALREADY fast growing baby boy, Jacob, who was born September 21st, 2007 at 11:45 pm (after 19 hours of labor).

Enjoy!

Kaylor, Brian, and Jacob
